From the soul

I've been thinking about a few worship songs lately and how their lyrics stuck out to me. This sort of sprung up in me something about worship coming from the very depths of our soul. To me the soul is as deep as it gets. It doesn't get any deeper and when we can cry out from our soul or sing from our soul, that is true worship.

Song #1, which brought some thought was the old hymn with these words "Then sings my soul." #2 was a song with the words "the cry of my heart is to bring you praise, from the inside out, oh, my soul cries out." #3 is this, "there is an endless song, echoes in my soul..."

Something so powerful can only come from the deepest, most sacred place of our being, our soul. It doesn't get any deeper when you are drawing all that you are and have from the deepest place God created in you. I think that when the soul cries out, its only place to go is God because that is what it was created to do and where worship is meant to come from.

I look at how worship transforms us and connects us with God and think that it is absolutely one thing that this world cannot duplicate. I think that the enemy tries but in its best efforts there is no comparison. This world can rock with some of the best musicians and their lyrics and even be truly devoted to it from the heart, but it's not real. It's false and deceptive. Some (in the world) would like to think that they sing or give from the soul but they are just trying real hard. And that's all it will ever be is hard work.

To me, the true beauty and realness of God is expressed from our soul. That is in any part of our lives whether in song, behavior, dance or connections, etc... It's originated in our soul. That is where I think the lyrics to the above songs get so much value and meaning out of them. They connect us and help us define to God how we really feel. Inside and out.
